EAACI Advanced Research Centre

The National Allergy Centre of Excellence (NACE) has been announced as a European Academy of Allergy and Clinical Immunology (EAACI) Advanced Research Centre.

The prestigious, international recognition acknowledges the NACE’s exemplary standards and dedication to improving quality of healthcare, allergy research and education.

As part of the new EAACI Quality Centres initiative, the NACE, hosted at Murdoch Children’s Research Institute (MCRI), joined a distinguished network of world-leading allergy and immunology institutions committed to excellence, collaboration, and knowledge sharing.

It also gained access to exclusive EAACI opportunities focused on advancing the next generation of allergy researchers, including esteemed fellowships, mentorships, participation in critical allergy and immunology task forces, congress admission, and travel grants.

EAACI is an association of more than 16,000 clinicians, researchers and allied health professional from 125 countries.

Professor Kirsten Perrett, NACE Director and MCRI Population Allergy Group Leader, accepted the accolade at the EAACI Congress 2025 in Glasgow, United Kingdom, on 13 June.

She said the recognition is a testament to the team’s commitment to improving outcomes for people living with allergies.

“This honour reflects the collaborative efforts of researchers, clinicians, and consumers across Australia,” she said.

“It strengthens our global partnerships, supports our emerging allergy researchers, and reinforces the importance of our program designed to transform allergy prevention, diagnosis and treatment in Australia, and beyond.”

The NACE is Australia’s peak allergy research body. In just three years, the federal government-funded centre of excellence has become one of the largest and most ambitious centres of its kind globally.

Backed by a national network of more than 450 experts in drug, food, insect, and respiratory allergies, the NACE builds critical national research infrastructure and collaboration to drive transformative, consumer-centred allergy care.

Importantly, working alongside the National Allergy Council (NAC), the NACE ensures healthcare services, public health programs and clinical guidelines stay laser-focused on the latest evidence.

The program runs across four pillars – Transforming Allergy Care, BioRepository and Discovery, Evidence and Translation, and Training and Innovation.

Gülfem Celik, EAACI Quality Committee Co-chair, said: “We congratulate you on this achievement and look forward to your continued contributions to advancing excellence in the field of allergy and clinical immunology”.
