Consumers
Setting the benchmark for consumer involvement in allergy research
More than five million Australians are living with allergic disease, and the NACE is committed to ensuring their voice is truely embedded in allergy research.
The NACE provides opportunities for people living with, or caring for someone with, allergies to share their lived experiences with drug, food, insect and respiratory allergy experts and help shape research design, implementation and translation.
Members of the NACE Consumer Advisory Group and Consumer Engagement Register have provided valuable input into more than 30 research projects, so far, including:
- Feedback on research project design
- Review of research materials (e.g. Participant Information Consent Forms or brochures)
- Involvement in focus groups
- Advice on communicating research findings
- Participation in media activity to help raise awareness of Australian allergy research.
The next step is to support consumers to become investigators or consumer research partners in key NACE projects.
