Esteemed allergy researchers from the National Allergy Centre of Excellence (NACE) and Centre for Food Allergy Research (CFAR) are among the presenters at this week's AAAAI/WAO Joint Congress in San Diego, CA, USA.
The focus of this year’s Congress is climate change and allergic diseases: global impact on health.
Professor Kirsten Perrett, Director of the NACE and CFAR, said the Congress was an opportunity for Australian allergy researchers to share their work with international colleagues and hear about the latest global trends in allergy prevention and treatment strategies.
“In Australia, 20 per cent of the population live with allergic disease, including 10 per cent of infants diagnosed with clinically confirmed food allergy,” said Prof Perrett, who will be attending.
“Australia is leading the way in many aspects of allergy research, including the recent discovery of a link between air pollution and childhood peanut allergy. We look forward to sharing our knowledge and discoveries, particularly in the food, drug and respiratory allergy streams, at the world’s largest allergy conference.”
