Prof Michaela Lucas inducted into WA Women's Hall of Fame

Professor Michaela LucasProfessor Michaela Lucas, National Allergy Centre of Excellence Drug Allergy Stream Co-chair, has been inducted into the WA Women's Hall of Fame.

Professor Lucas, of the University of Western Australia Medical School, was awarded a prestigious European Marie Curie Research Fellowship and undertook a postdoctoral position at the University of Oxford, which established her research career, before training as a clinical immunologist and immunopathologist in Australia.

Through her clinical and research expertise in drug allergy, transplantation immunology, anti-viral immunity and examining the impact of plastics on human health, she leads clinical work, research, guideline development and advocacy.

"I feel honoured to have been recognised for the work I’m doing in immunology, allergy and plastics and human health," she said.

"The thing I enjoy most about my job is having the opportunity to really make a change to people’s lives and science. I was excited that the work we are doing has been recognised, not just for myself but for the team behind me."
